LifeCraft Asia visiting Grand Master Kim Nam Jae, who is he?
LifeCraft Asia is preparing themselves to Seoul, Korea for a 10 days intensive Korean Martial Arts training camp, one of the stops is Grand Master Kim Nam Jae’s dojang (training hall). Who is this Grand Master Kim Nam Jae person?
Grandmaster Kim Nam Jae began his Hapkido training in the 50s, and is one of the few second generation Hapkido Grandmasters actively teaching today. He got his Hapkido 9th Degree Black Belt in 2009, and was for many years the chief instructor for the Korea Hapkido Federation instructor’s program
He is a first-generation student, learning under Grandmaster Ji Han Jae's which was the first school in Seoul (Sung Moo Kwan), and began training in Hapkido in 1961.
In 1969 he opened his own Dojang in Seoul and founded the school Kyung Moo Kwan Hapkido, which includes the entire technical repertoire of the Sung Moo Kwan school. In his Dojang (training center), he is constantly improving as a teacher and also demands his students to do so. Kyung Moo Kwan school is one of Seoul’s oldest running Martial Arts gyms.
In 2008 he is selected, along with another master by the Korea Hapkido Federation to participate in the United State of America program Fight Quest on the Discovery Channel. This gives it great recognition worldwide.
